History

Prairie Lee Framing opened in 1929 on the corner of Prairie and Lee streets in downtown Des Plaines. The store originally offered paint, wallpaper and framing services. I began working for the original owners when I was a sophomore in high school in 1981. When we moved to our present location in 1983, we kept the retail frame store and did wallpaper and paint at a commercial level. Having earned the trust of Jim and Joan Reilly, I took ownership of the store in 1993. If I were family, I would be third generation. My passion for woodworking and artistic arrangement helped in my decision. I love to work with my hands, and custom framing allows me to live my passion.

At Prairie Lee Framing, you can feel safe knowing that all our work is done at our location. We use only the latest preservation techniques available. I have always said, “You don’t know a good framing job until you take it apart.” For this reason, I personally oversee all framing operations. This is not a job, this is my living, and I will make every attempt to meet and exceed your expectations. The quality and service received at Prairie Lee is what has kept us in business for over 75 years.

We service numerous corporate accounts because of our superior service: free pickup and delivery; samples brought to your office for on-site selection; installation; and a thirty day billing period.
